Batang Kalye

Filed under: Features — admin at 5:26 pm on Monday, July 13, 2009

I had a corporate show for a pharmaceutical company in SM Megamall last Friday, July 3, 2009. My call time was at 2:30 p.m.

I had always hated the EDSA traffic caused by a vehicular accident, to which everyone “makes usyoso” as the motorists slowly pass by and check who’s at fault. The people involved usually get into a debate in the middle of the street until a police investigator arrives. Nagta-traffic po kayo! Hello! Caramba!

The day before the show, I was advised not to be late for my call time because client is very particular with time.

We were in a rush so we’d beat the call time. My ICF (it’s complicated friend) particularly told the driver to stop at a gas station. I insisted to go straight to the show’s venue for fear of becoming late. Karma!

I felt we were wrongly judged for our mishap.

So this is how it feels. I have judged so many people who accidentally caused traffic. Walang gas! Walang aircon! Walang labasan sa car at nakakahiya! Walang hangin!

I had no choice but to go down the car and take pictures of myself in the middle of EDSA to prove my innocence.

candy11.jpgcandy51.jpg

What reputation do artists have? I guess, it’s because latecomers in showbiz abound. Most give lame adlibs. A few have valid reasons.

At that moment, I felt bad because it seemed like I had no word of honor. I also realized that I have to work harder to prove people wrong about this notion that artists have no discipline at all. Freeze…Why am I pointing a finger to my colleagues when the other three fingers of mine are pointing at me? Guilty.

Lately, I have been constantly late with the excuse that I have a kid. But, that’s not an excuse. It’s a weird wake-up call, amid the noisy cars honking at me. Our ever-efficient driver/feeling superman hurriedly got off the car to get gas.

Good news! There are still good Samaritans in this day and age. An acquaintance of my ICF was passing by, recognized the car plates, and stopped to lend help. As expected, their help cameat the time my superman driver was still running along EDSA to reach Connecticut, Greenhills.

I was just on time. We rehearsed with my harassed look. I still apologized because if I were in the producers’ shoes, my excuse was still irrelevant. And my concern would just be, my artist arrive on time. Simple lessons that I seem to have forgotten and taken for granted. Lessons which I promised to abide by when I was still a striving theater artist.

The EDSA experience made me want to go back and see things that I don’t get to experience anymore, ang kalye. Heto na kami along busy Espana Avenue, when ICF suggested na kumain kami ng PARES in one of the karinderias. GO!

I saw the simplicity of the place and the sincerity of the people eating. They were eating not to be seen but to really enjoy food and fill their stomach. Kasi di ba, aminin natin na merong times na we eat in a place not because we are truly hungry but because we want to see people and be seen by people.

Different people walking in different directions, some are waiting, some are simply standing, some are laughing with friends and there were also sidewalk vendors convincing passersby to buy.

Lahat ay may sari-sariling kwento. Lahat ay may pinanggalingan.. Lahat ay may pinagdadaanan. Lahat ay may gustong puntahan. Lahat ay may kanya-kanyang lakbay.

The parallelism of life and the street. Mayaman o mahirap, we all have our journeys to walk.

Looking for someone….urgent!

November 17th, 2008 by macarmela

I shall be honest to make things easier and simplier for me. I’m looking for a
1. classmate of mine
2. who I forgot her name (sorry talaga! patawarin mo ako)
3. who generously gave me a christmas tree last year. (how kapal my face to forget her name…)
I’m looking for her because my mom would like to buy another christmas tree. Right after November 2 ay tinatayo na sila.
Sayang din naman kasi I can feature her Christmas tree. Dito kami nag-connect thru multiply or friendster yata.
Sorry talaga for my bad memory. (no excuses…)
Anyhow, that’s not the point…
Sana mahanap ko siya. Please PM me. Parang awa mo na. Thanks.

Crowning Glory

have been receiving personal messages from people, here in multiply,
asking me, where I have my hair  done, and who is responsible for it.

Thank you for complimenting me and my hairstylist, who also happens to be a very good friend of mine.

The
person who cuts, treats, color, ressurects my dead hair from abuse of
blowdry and products is Ms. Celeste Tuviera. The salon is SYMMETRIA,
exact address is 59 connecticut st. designmix bldg., greenhills, san
juan. Their landline is 7051375. You may look for Lyn or Cecile to set
an appointment with Celeste.

She also takes haircare of other celebrities like Regine Velasquez, Piolo Pascual, and a lot more.

Yabangan
ko lang kayo ng slight about her. I’m really very proud of what she has
reached today. I know she has a long way to go pa rin. Magaling na nga
siya ngayon, and still improving to be better in the future.

She
is responsible for such wonderful hair transformations of the
beautiful, glamorous and head turning billboards like F&H of
Claudine before, and present F&H, Belo billboards and etc. Heto
The hair change
which transcends to look overhauling with a team of other
proffessionals in the field of make-up, clothes, stylist- the likes of
Juan Sarte and Marlon. At etc…

I remember when Celeste first put up a salon along annapolis st.
Monique, a
beautiful Australian whose talent in hairstyling I truly cannot
deny. But then, ang mahal ng maintenance ng lola monique mo. To top it all, na-inlove sa basketball player kaya merong mga araw na hindi papasok kasi merong game ang jowa.
lagot!

Who’s going to run the Salon?
Celeste
asked for my help to find someone who can replace Monique. I introduced
her to Bong Bella and they instantly adored each other. Bong Bella
managed the Salon while Celeste was studying abroad.

To
make a long story short. Natapos siya mag-aral after 2 years. Noong
nagkukulay parang practical exam palagi.. Kaya naman the study of hair
continues.

haay!
how time flies. how people change, grow, mature, progress, regress, fly
high, step down… Iyt’s really a matter of choice how you want to lead
your life. What today seems to be a hard task to do will always bear
fruit of perseverance.
Kaya go na kayo.

events and guestings: Tongee is his name, make-up and ayos hair is his
game.
RM Manalapat.
Seloun yata ang name nung salon niya.

Mga
bagong panganak usually ang nagtatanong sa akin. Kaya go na kayo.
Pamper yourself. Ang dami ng nega sa earth. Feel good then spread the
feeling to all. Things do start from oneself. It usually starts from
the head.

What’s the meaning of this?

January 7th, 2008 by macarmela

What’s the meaning of this my dear multiplyers, pepsters and etc.?

As fas as I can remember, ‘personal’ means it is something that is meant for a certain person. Kaya nga meron tayong ‘personalized items’.

I have nothing against it. I have to admit bothered lang naman po ako… These past Christmas Season ngayon lang naman po napuno ang inbox of ‘personal messages’ only to find out that it’s a message forwarded to everybody… or certain people in the list.

Still, wala naman nakalagay na ‘candy, merry christmas’. In other words nalito lang naman po ako sa meaning ng ‘personal’. In reality, ‘personal’ means physically being there for the person.

Huh? Paano yun. Testimonial yun eh. ‘Testimonial’ meaning to testify or witnessing about a person or situation. Therefore one must be able to have an encounter with such to be able to give a testimony. Hirap!

I also have nothing so personal with forwarded messages. Wag lang naman sana 5x kung ipadala. Forwarded na nga 5x pa.

Announcements are okay because it’s info dissemination. But forwarded messages that means nothing sucks. I’m sorry but it really sucks!

Same level with people requesting to view your ‘Private Photos’ in friendster. That’s why it’s private nga eh. I don’t understand why people ask if they can view the private photos, if there are public photos. Big deal ba? Not really… Simply Puzzling. Simply Amazing.

At the end of the day… Sad din naman kung wala itong mga funny things that will puzzle ones mind if the meaning of words have been recently changed.

Same manner: If some friends suddenly change the way they treat us. I have the same question. What’s the meaning of this?

When people turn their backs on you due to fame or money.

When women fight over one man…

When a friend lies. and lies. and lies…

When something meant for you is taken away.

When people misinterpret kindness for flirting…

When people think that you are stupid and do not understand things…

When people disagree violently with the way you handle things. handle your life…

And the list can go on… But I first have to write my New Years Resolution.

New Years’s Resolution?! Late na Candy! New Year nga eh! What’s the meaning of this?

Sensya… di ko nasulat. Kailangan pa isulat? What’s the meaning of this?

Pero ginagawa ko na naman yung New Years Resolution ko. They say to be able to do your new year’s resolution you should write it down. There’s power in writing things. It gets done somehow..

Kayo? What’s your New Year’s Resolution? No worries. I will never ask you or question you : What’s the meaning of this?
